Time banking rules

Time banking founds the mechanics that assures that language exchanges are fair for everyone at Langademy. It means that if you make a timebanking video call with a native speaker, you must contribute the same time speaking in your native language, with the same or other students. Langademy records video call durations so you don't have to worry about the math. Just watch your time balance (Time Bank) to decide if you need to schedule video calls in your native language and increase your time balance. This is how timebanking works:

  • When you sign up at Langademy you begin with 30 minutes in your Time Bank account so you can practice the language you want.
  • By default, you will not be able to accumulate more than 10 hours in your Time Bank account.
  • Invite your friends and you will get 30 extra minutes for each friend that signs up with your invitation. You can also earn hours for your Time Bank account by following Langademy on Twitter and Facebook (+ 30 minutes).
  • When you make a timebanking video call (How to make a video call) in a language that is not your native language, you spend time from your Time Bank account. However, if you make a video call to a non-native in your native language (minimum level: C2), the call time will be added to your account.
